You HOPE they replace Mcboberts. My point is it is not a perfected science to scout any athlete. On paper it should be a wash. You got to admit you've missed a few recently much like we did with Lang, Capel, Morrison, and Boone.

I don't care how good graves is. We are deep regardless of how strong he comes on.

Well folks...it's one year later and the Dukies are once again gone on the opening weekend of the tournament. Duke finishes 28-6 which is better than last year but in the overall scheme another year where they were not legit championship contenders from the get-go.

I'll give credit where it's due, I thought Greg Paulus was 10 times better than he was last year. Now let's look at this freshmen class that slydevil shot his load all over...

Singler: Good freshmen campaign that started strong (best player at the Maui Tournament) but tailed off shortly after conference play started. He made an impact as a freshmen but definintely didn't take over as their best overall player like some of the people throught he would.

King: Going back to find this old thread I had to laugh when slydevil said King would be another version of Pittsnoggle. Kinda ironic isn't it? King never was a factor this year.

Smith: He did come in to give Paulus some relief but for as much as he was hyped at Oak Hill, he didn't provide much of an impact this year. Paulus will be there one more year because I can't stand the prick, does Smith pay his dues and wait for 2009 to shine or could we have another one of the classic Duke players that never fits in and eventually transfers?

I've said it once and will say it again...Coach K has seen his best days at Duke and at some point I think in the best interest of the program you gotta consider making the transition over to Dawkins. K's philosphy of depending on penetration and kickout 3-pointers is not working anymore. I don't see any inside players coming to Durham anytime soon.

Taylor King's lack of production is on Coach K. He was doing great at the beginning of the year and was averaging double figures in December and maybe even into January and then he just got zero burn. He'd mess up once and get put back on the bench. Nolan Smith was hot and cold. I think he hit a little bit of a wall, but not a bad freshman campaign. Singler was good. Losing McRoberts was addition by subtraction. He was a huge cancer

Taylor King sucks and his lack of production is in NO WAY on Coach K. The kid got to the point he would jack it up any time he got the ball. By the time Dec rolled around, teammates were scared to pass him the ball, knowing he wouldn't pass it back.

In February it appeared he had figured it out for a couple of games, and had some decent assists and hit a few nice shots, but quickly fell into his old habits. That was only half of King's problem though. The other half is that Duke could ill-afford to play ANOTHER short, unathletic forward. He was goofy and uncoordinated on defense. When Duke unwisely started pressing again, their lack of athleticism didn't allow King to play.

I hope he can play better next year, despite how down on him as I am, he does have certain gifts that could help a basketball team. He just needs to realize he's no Glen Rice, yet.
