Actually, the first sentence of this thread I state that the run on OT's might make RB a better value. I could care less about Mendenhall, specifically.

Except no, b/c we have Wharton at LT and Gross at RT.

We don't need a starting tackle any more than we need a starting RB. Both would be very nice.

Hell - we might need a DE or DT more than we need a tackle. Or a guard. We lost starters at DT, DE, and RB.

We kept both our starting tackles.

I don't know that I buy that Wharton is going to guard. I'm not opposed to it. I think it's just an option if we get our guy and he's a tackle. Wharton played fine when Jake was behind center.

If you buy into the notion that Fox/Hurney need to get to the playoffs or else, then maybe they will go for a player that will pay off immediately. Linemen don't usually. They are also much harder to judge whether they can play at this level. I don't think Fox will bet his career on a rook.

If DW goes down were out. Again....because of injuries. The FO has been bit too many times because the 2nd or third guy couldn't handle the load left by a starter. Mendenhall or Stewart if helathy will give us an ass kicking backfield and a legit offense.

I'm not opposed to taking a Tackle or a DE with that 1st pick, there's value there and the draft is deep with RBs. On the other hand it also makes sense to get another RB, you need two in this league. We should be able to get a good one. That may not be the case with the other two spots

Plus, I honestly don't know that HUrfox is sold on Williams. It's not like Foster got cut b/c he got benched. It's not like Fox gave the job to Williams last year - most of us thought he should, but he didn't.

Hurfox has thrown some curves this year. Everybody thought Wharton was gone - signed before Gross. Signed Hackett after Moose. Signed Landon Johnson after re-signing Diggs.

I am absolutely not convinced that they see Williams as anymore than a #2 back. It doesn't mean they don't, or that he's not. But cutting Foster - who was totally ineffective - does not mean that they love Williams. It means they were done with Foster.

And on the other side - they paid Wharton and Gross.

    Watch - they'll pick a cornerback. :piggy:

They won't pick up a RB in the 1st round. With all the receivers we have now maybe we should Air it out? We have way to many other needs to pick up another RB. If we did I think we should get Kevin Jones he's hurt allot but he can be a soild number #3 or #2. Toefield will get his chance, but we should have picked up D. Ward. IMO

We don't get a Tackle we pick up Sims as a bandaid. That's the reason the team is still in contact with him.

You bring him up a lot, and RB specifically, which is fine, but I think you're very much in favor of him.

Actually we don't need a starter at RB at all. We have our starter.

As for OT, we could move Wharton back out. Did we get better? No. Will a better RB backup make our line better? I don't see it. If we don't pick up a tackle, in a strong tackle class, we're hoping for a guard. That's not really an upgrade either.

Brane, I really don't see Sims as a positive. That's a guy you pick up so you can groom a player through camp.

It took just as long for Foster to become the starter.

They need to build the lines for the future. They really don't need much at RB. Other teams have proven that you can run with an average back and good line. Average backs are available later.

I really feel OT is a big, big need.

That being said, I think Mendenhall would pound the rock for 1300 yards behind the line we had last year.

I'm thinking we go best DL available. Maybe trade to get in the right slot for the player, but definately D-line.
