I keep thinking he's it. Much due to the pre draft mock 'run' on OT's.

    Wharton / Vincent / Kalil / Hang / Gross

    Williams / Mendenhall

    Smith / Hackett / Muhammad

    King / Rosario

I can't say I like the above less than:

    Gross / Wharton / Kalil / Vincent / Rookie

    Williams / Toefield

    Smith / Hackett / Muhammad

    King / Rosario

    pre-draft mocks don't mean shit

the last one I saw shows us with the choice of Clady or Williams

I can't see any need for Mendenhall

there's just no way we need a 2nd RB more than we need a 1st OT

1 San Francisco Alex Smith - QB
2 Miami Ronnie Brown - RB
3 Cleveland Braylon Edwards - WR
4 Chicago Cedric Benson - RB
5 Tampa Bay Carnell Williams - RB

That's why I don't like running back at the top of the draft. Especially when we already have a starter who was a 1st rounder who has given every indication that he can be the guy.

We already have a first OT.

An I don't know that we need a 2nd OT more than a 2nd RB.

Why do we need a 1st round RB as a 2nd or possibly 3rd RB?

We start two of them, you know. And I don't believe they really intend on playing Wharton back at OT to suit a backup runner.

BPA. I'd rather grab a value RB than a reach OT.

Until Wharton suits up at Guard, I'd say he's a tackle. So - we have our staring tackles already on the roster. I don't know that Gross at LT, Wharton at LG, rookie at RT is better than Wharton at Gross at their usual spots.

Also - It's not like we can't also ( like we can take an RB later ) take a tackle later.

The problem is, you're not talking so much about a reach OT. You're just saying you want Mendenhall.

Later round tackle would have to start - or maybe Bridges. That'd be fun. Later round RB doesn't start.
