Va Tech, Arizona State, Dayton, all go the shaft by the selection committee. Kentucky should never have been invited. I can't remember a year when a worse job was done with the at large invitations. The NIT might just be watchable this year.

Indeed The NIT will be worthy. ASU played a bunch of nobody's out of conference so they don't have reason to gripe.

I'm no expert on the NCAA tournament, as evidence by my severe lack in skill of picking winners, but I do agree with what Dick Vitale said on the ESPN show. He essentially said, 'Tell us what the criteria are for teams to be selected, then select the 34 best teams. Don't give us a bunch of statistics about why some teams deserve to be in over others and then tell us they're the 34 best teams, because they are not.'

9-7 in one of the toughest conferences, and 2-0 over Arizona. Not a bad argument.

Did anyone catch the guy who headed up the selection committee when Packer asked him how could the ACC which by RPI was the number 1 conference only had 4 teams? I agree with Vitale. What criteria do they judge by?

Va. Tech should have gotten in. These guys on the committee are DUMB ASSES. The ACC had a RPI of #1.

The guy's response was "well, we don't look at the RPI!"

Kentucky gets in after losing to Gardner Webb on their own floor and getting waxed by Vandy by 41. Throw in some other bad performances and they still get in. The committee used the criteria that they had a good conference record. The SEC sucks, Georgia won the freakin tourney even after having to play twice in one day.

The problem this year is there wasn't 34 good at large teams. Everyone had a chance to do well in the tourneys and most bottomed out. I have more of a beef with the seedings. Indiana is better than an 8, so is KSU as an 11. Oregon a 9 is a joke and Arizona and Kentucky in the tourney is a bigger joke. VT can make a case, but they should have won at least three more games against easy opponents. Wisonsin can make the biggest argument IMMFO.
