I agree about moving players. But if you have a kid that's busting his ass in school, doing whatever the coaches ask in order to help the team...should you pull his scholie when he has 2 years of eligibility left? Sure, he'll graduate in August, but with 2 more years of eligibility he could leave with a graduate degree.

Here is what the AD is saying:

While James Davis was not misquoted by the writer in the Charleston story, James did not portray an accurate picture of our scholarship commitment to Ray Ray from a financial standpoint. When the coaches met with Ray Ray, it was made clear to him that if he decided to remain at Clemson, his scholarship would be provided. That includes a commitment from me that we would give him a graduate assistant position within the Clemson Athletic Department after he graduated. Tim Bourret sent out a statement to this effect on Sunday. Perhaps that didn't make the Charleston paper.

From a football standpoint, coaches met with Ray Ray and made it clear to him that he had four talented running backs ahead of him this fall. We have two of the top running backs in our program's history currently on the roster and two of the Top 10 running back signees in the nation are coming to Clemson this fall. If his future goals involves playing professional football, he needs to get on the field. If he is to get on the field, he needs to transfer to another program.

But, he has the option to stay here and have his schooling paid for through the next two years.

They're spinning it. He was offered a GA position on Monday...not before. This will not pay his room and board. DAMAGE CONTROL!!!

    Here's the article in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Bowden Bangs Ray Ray and Enjoys it

You are right, and that's the problem. Which is why I've started this post. Shit like this needs to stop.

As for Ray-Ray, if Clemson cared enough to do the trust fund for Fahmar, they should at least have the decency to allow him to keep his scholarship to finish school. Supposedly he will graduate in August, so why not allow him to keep the scholarship for one more season? Because Tommy Bowden is an asshole, he used Ray-Ray to get some good PR just like he used Arkansas to get a raise. I just think he needs to be exposed.

Clemson doesn't care. No one cares. You wouldn't care if it didn't involve some running back that made a nice ESPN story that ran 15 times back in December - and that now happens to be making someone named "Bowden" look bad.

If you are worried about the kid, give him a job or send him a check.

I agree. Spin control. Bowden is doing all he can to save his own ass. After this season, when they win 8 games again and don't make the ACC championship again, those ignorant rednecks at Clemson that think they are a powerhouse will start up the fire TB bus again. And they will probably say something then about firing him because of how he treated Ray-Ray. What BS this whole thing is.

What a freaking prick you are. I actually care about the story because it was actually something good in a sports world where we see so much bad. I don't give two shits about a Bowden. I could care less about any of them. As far as I know, I've never heard of a Bowden doing anything good for anyone, like what Ray-Ray is doing. So, no, I don't really care about them. I'd like to see a kid like Ray-Ray catch a break. Obviously for you, you don't feel that growing up the child of a drug addict was painful enough. You feel that nobody should care that now he has to find a way to finish paying for school and find a way to take care of his brother at the same time. I, unlike yourself, happen to feel bad for the kid and don't agree with it. Obviously you feel that you should just piss on whoever to get what you want. And you sum up what is wrong with our world today. No go crawl under a rock and rot. TBR doesn't care. I don't care. Nobody cares.

I've seen it, and good point. There is one good thing Bobby Bowden did.

If you care so fucking much, then shut the fuck up and send some money to poor Ray-Ray instead of worrying about the Bowden family doing what every other NCAA coach does from time to time.

Ray-Ray ain't the only kid raising his kid brother in hard times. He's just the only one that got on ESPN. Why? Because of the pub he got while - wait for it - playing football at Clemson.

Maybe Ray-Ray should get a statue in front of the stadium.
