But look who they have been playing. (not saying its their fault just that all their wins have been against the bottom of the ACC).

Not entirely true anymore. Duke has had a couple of off nights. Everyone knows the ACC is essentially a two team league this year.

Every year in the ACC is the same thing - a train wreck. There are a couple of stand out schools with good records, but for the most part teams just beat each other up. I completely agree that the ACC is in a down year, but I wouldn't want to take anything away from what a limited UNC, Maryland, Wake, Miami, Clemson, and Va. Tech teams have been able to do this year. Those teams deserve some of the credit.

Missing the point....fact is, UVA, VT, NCSU...FSU are not dancing this year and at the time they played UNC really had no shot......Duke OTOH has been @ Wake and @Miami 2 schools who at the time were/are bubble teams.

you played UMD 1 (L) 2 against Clemson that were..both OT games...

GT you won on a non call.

So are you suggesting that games where one of the teams 'have no shot' shouldn't even be played? I think you're really missing MY point. Those teams still have pride - they still want to compete - they still have a shot of winning a game THAT DAY against a higher ranked opponent. To say that those teams didn't play because they had no shot REALLY devalues those teams, coaches, and kids. I disagree with you completely on those points.

What I do agree with you on is the fact that Wake and Miami are bubble teams needing a win. I'll also agree that being on the bubble is a motivating factor that was probably used to help propel them to the W. But to say the other teams (the Tarheels played) weren't motivated and didn't play up to their potential because they 'had no shot' is extremely unfair to those programs.

Duke's defense is flat. You can talk about them being one dimensional on offense, but they put up 95 fucking points. That's enough for a win. Their defense is suffering because they are not moving their feet and trying to use their arms to stop the ball and getting called with dumbass fouls or getting beat off the dribble. That has been the story of the last 2 games. Duke is still 22-3 and #1 in the ACC standings. Who has UNC actually beaten since Lawson was gone? The best is a Clemson team that is 7-5 in conference play and got tons of wins in the OOC against mediocre at best competition to boost their record enough to get in the tourney and that was a miracle Double OT finish at home (which Clemson happens to be 0-57 at). They played Duke AT HOME, and it wasn't a squeaker. It was a comfortable double digit win for Duke. Duke didn't even really celebrate at all and it was real anticlimactic. The bottom line with the Miami game, when Lance Thomas scores double digits there is no excuse for losing. He is suppose to be the weak length of the offense and if he scores more than 6 points it should be a lock win for Duke. They have lost their last two games not because of their offense but because of their lousy defense that gave up more than 90 points on average over the last two games.
