Hansbrough will likely get it, but Beasley from K-State is more derserving. For one, he's by far a better player. Second, he plays in a conference that is way better than the creampuff-dominated ACC.

He's the only real option on that team.

Hansbrough should win it hands down. Only one freshman has ever done it, so I don't expect Beasley to be the second in two years. Hansbrough has led his team to now be the #3 team in the country. Beasley hasn't done that. In a game of one on one - Beasley wins - no question there, but 'player of the year' is about making your team better and Hansbrough does that. Easy choice.

Not bad at all, but he doesn't have to share the ball with Ellington, Lawson, and D. Thompson (Who shoots everytime the leather hits his hands).

The award is for player of the year, not teammate of the year.

Beasley is the best player in the country and would eat Hansborough for breakfast.

I didn't know any teams played with less than 5 - but I could be wrong.

UNC has 3 candidates up for the award. Dook has 1. There are 6 of 30 candidates that are freshmen. It's interesting that Michael Beasley wasn't even on the radar when the pre-season top 30 candidates were mentioned. Neither was Kevin Love who was the National High School Player of the year...
