comparing college basketball to a nursing home is a poor analogy IMO. It's obvious you didn't have a tough childhood, been in the military or are in any form of law enforcement. Knight had a tough hard ass way of coaching his kids, doesn't mean it's the wrong way. If it were so wrong, why did most kids continue to go Indiana and Texas Tech with no problems? Obviously the parents didn't take issue with his style nor the kids themselves. How can someone so "bad" be loved by so many including the likes of Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Mike Krzyzewski, Dick Vitale and the list goes on and on.

Knight was no embarrassment. He was for certain an enigma who was manipulative but nearly all his former players sing his praises. He was "old school" and that kind of thing just will not play any more. The kids are too spoiled. I condemn the thuggish acts he was guilty of but he did a lot of very good things for a lot of people. He is a bit of a hypocrite though for bailing out in the middle of the season unless of course their is a medical reason.

agree. Except maybe he was a hypocrite so his son was guaranteed the coaching job? I don't know, I just think he was looking out for his son more than anything there.

You're using that as an excuse because you know that you don't have a rebuttal for my point. Yes, Knight seemingly ran programs without violating NCAA rules. That is laudable, but lots of coaches do that, and in no way does it excuse his behavior. To use a different analogy, a cop who never takes any dirty money but routinely yells at or even attacks the people on his beat is not doing his job "the right way."

It's obvious not only that you are a complete moron with no clue about my background, but that you already know how badly you're losing this argument and are therefore inventing idiotic excuses in a desperate attempt to make yourself seem less stupid. I was not raised with "time out," I did grow up with family members in the military, and there was always an abundance of discipline in our household. I am not one of those people who believes that kids should never be yelled at or that spanking is wrong. At the same time, what Knight did clearly went way beyond those lines.

Bobby Knight was an abusive asshole who berated the young men under his care to an obviously unnecessary degree. Many abused wives stick by their husbands, but that doesn't make their actions any more correct, and there is absolutely no denying that Bobby Knight has been physically and especially mentally abusive of his players throughout his coaching career. The way Bobby Knight behaved as a basketball coach is no more "right" than the way that I behave on message boards.

I'd prefer not to argue, but for that to happen, the world would need to be less populated with idiots. Any time you want to help reduce that number, feel free.

My point, however, remains unassailable. However much some moronic whiners seek to quibble, the fact is that Bobby Knight's abusiveness has been unnecessary and harmful, just like my own.

Really now? You have had words at least once with 90% of the people that post in the basketball/football forums.

Whether they are morons or not, if you really don't prefer to argue, it's easy to umm, just not respond to what you don't agree with.

But hey, lets see if you will argue about whether or not you like to argue.
