Or worse. Look at the UNC/NC State "rivalry" now. That used to be bigger than UNC/dook when I was growing up, and I'm not all that old.

I agree that UNC Duke was huge in the 60's, but other than a couple of years in the late 70's Duke was not competitive (in the 70's/early 80's.) By the mid 80's UNC NC State was a much bigger rivalry in my opinion. That had changed by 1989.

That's 99% of the people who pull for either team, so your point would be?

Same here.. I didnt get to see the game (dad in hospital) or hear Roy Williams' comments. But, from what I saw of the stats, UNC beat themselves. It didnt help matters much with Ty Lawson sitting out due to the ankle injury.

Since Roy Williams has been UNC's coach, twice they've dropped the first game in the Duke-UNC series, but managed to win the return game later that season.

2 years ago, when then second ranked Duke knocked off UNC at The Smith Center. But the Tar Heels regrouped and later knocked off the then-top ranked Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium later that season when no one give them a chance.

Three years ago, when UNC won the national championship, they lost the first game at Cameron, but regrouped to win a classic at The Dean Dome.

It has been done before, it can be done again.
