Something was very obvious to me last night...

I dont know where to add this but Ill post it here.....this is for the folks who say....Duke only shoots 3s and if they dont shoot well, they will lose.

A few #s to ponder

Duke was 11-24 from 3.

Against UMD, a team that had just beat UNC.

Duke was 6-18 (33%) from 3.

Clemson

Duke 7-22 (32%)

So to say Duke has to shoot well to beat these "bigger" teams isnt true....When the shoot well they open up the driving lanes for Demarcus and Henderson b/c the D has to commit to guard the peremiter (UNC under Roy rarely does this) Duke has won 7 of its 8 ACC games by 10+.

They put 4 sometimes 5 ball handlers on the floor at one time.....4 of them can and are known for their 3pt shooting...you cant guard them all.....Sure a cold shooting night will happen.....but the dribble penetration makes up for that b/c even if they are cold teams will have to commit to peremiter D....the best way to counter act the 3pt shots is to take away the driving lanes and make all the Duke players jump shooters.

let see how Homer you are.Let say that Danny Green and Wayne Ellington have there normal kind of game.Do you still think that you had won the game.The Bottom line is if Danny Green and Wayne Ellington had there normal kind of game especially Ellington i am not sure you win the game last night.Ellington is a scoring machine .Danny Green Can very easily score 15 15Ponite a night.The Bottom line you won so enjoy your.Enjoy for a long time becuase when Ty come back and we face you guys march 2 it will not be a easy game for your dookie

 

PREFACE--I DO NOT CARE EITHER WAY ABOUT WHO WINS.

UNC does not "suck." They were beaten without Lawson. UNC has talent, but what I saw is that without Lawson they are a different team--in body language, etc. They looked lost without Lawson. That is scary if you are a UNC fan.

Duke shot the lights out of the gym. 13 treys is damn strong, and to do it on the road is even bigger. Duke showed heart and character in that game, and it showed. They were the better team on Wednesday.

I suspect a healthy Lawson makes the rematch a little different, but maybe not enough to push UNC to a win. Sure Ellington and Green had bad nights, but good teams can overcome bad nights from some players, and not lose by 11.

Dukey--stop the "our house" stuff. It's your house if you went there.

You ever think that maybe they NEVER WILL have their "normal game" against Duke because Demarcus Nelson and Gerald Henderson are two of the best defensive players in the NCAA not just the ACC?

Duke is ELITE at guarding the perimeter and those two guys are one trick ponies.

If they weren't wide open for 90% of their shots I would agree. Both those guys are tough when it comes to D, but unfortunately that had nothing to do with that for these two guys this game, both of them just plain out sucked.
