Ok, since we're studying Matthew, please compare Matthew 1:16 and Luke 3:23.

That's true, but does that automatically strip the Bible of any integrity? If so, we better come up with a new U.S. Constitution quick. Americans have been fighting over the interpretation of that document for a couple of centuries now.

I don't blame you, and that kind of thing is what kept me away from the church for 3/4 of my life. But ask yourself this (just as I did) -- what really repulses you? Is it the people, the organization, or the Bible itself?

I think this boils down to the same misunderstanding that I had with Spud earlier. I'm in no way suggesting that homosexual behavior isn't a sin. It clearly is. What I'm saying is that a particular sin (any particular sin) is not enough to exlude the sinner from the church if the sinner is truely seeking salvation.

As for all the effort into "excusing one type of sin", this particular type is the topic of this thread, that's why it's the one I'm talking about. But again, for clarification, I'm not excusing sin, but suggesting God will forgive the sinner.

Mark - are you politically active/interested at all?

I'm going to guess you aren't. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's relevant to the thread.

I don't think he is at all. It seems to me Mark's point is that all sin should be seen equally negative, and I would most certainly agree with that.

I'd say I'm interested, but not particularly active. I vote, but that's really about the extent of my action.

I'm glad you asked, V. I was thinking about it as I was posting comments there. I have looked into it before (because it is a "huh?" kind of thing), but I need to refresh my memory. I'll post something on it ASAP.

Everyone who sits in church is a sinner.
But I have problems with not calling sin a sin.
And I'm telling you right now...A homosexual or an adulterer isn't going to be teaching me or my kids in any class or doing any kind of leadership in any church I'd be a member of.
