When Carlos Silva is getting $12 million a year, Santana is worth $25 mil.

the mets will not crumble....they do not have a big hole in the front end of their rotation when they have 2 of the best pitchers in the game today....when pedro is healthy he is a top notch pitcher....if the mets didnt have the collapse at the end of the year they would have won 93 games...now win santana...you can see the mets winning around 98 games and fighting with the diamondbacks for the best team in the NL.

With Santana, the Mets are the team to beat in the NL East but don't forget that this is a team that had a complete melt down last September. Delgado is past his prime, Reyes disappeared down the strech last year, Wagner is not the 9th inning lock he used to be, and they still have some biq question marks in the rotation. It will not be a cakewalk putting away the Phillies and the Braves. I think that if they struggle early, Randolph may be gone.

I love Pedro and all, but he's not even close to a top notch pitcher anymore.

32 strikeouts in 28 '07 innings begs to differ. Pedro's only question is health, not skill. He is unquestionably still a top notch pitcher when he's actually out on the mound, but no one knows if the Mets will get 50 or 200 innings out of him this season.
