PS3 version gets hosed - no way to do 4 player yet, you get the weekly song downloads 3 days after the xbox version, and you can't do on-line voice chatting worth a crap (all from what I hear, hopefully that's all fixed for ya).

That's not exactly true. If you know someone else with the PS3 version you can have him bring his guitar.

The extra guitar situation is fucked on PS3 though, especially since the instruments won't go on sale separately until April.

For the record, with the x360 version of Rock Band, you can use either the GH II or III guitars as the bass (or lead guitar.) On the PS3 version, you can't use the GH guitars with the game yet.

You can't use the RB guitars with any GH game, no matter the platform (except for PS2 maybe.)

Looks like Rock Band Wii is confirmed:

It doesn't say, but I'd expect a port of the PS2 version, which doesn't have interactive backgrounds (it uses pre-rendered movies instead) which means there is no character creation. Also missing is the downloadable content (which is unfortunate since the PS2 does actually have a HD available.) The Wii, without a HD, will likely not have downloadable songs.

They did, but the patch was never released due to licensing issues.

The only way to play 4 player Rock Band on PS3 is to have two Fender Strat Rock Band guitars.

i dunno. the wii is designed with built-in newtorking and it might lack a HD but it does have an sd ram slot. not reason to not allow d/ls.

the ps2 is limited because the tech is ancient. while the wii isn't a dynamo by today's standards, it's still pretty capable.

The tech in the PS2 is ancient, but that's not what's limiting downloadable content, it's the lack of network infrastructure for the machine. The Wii has a much better internet setup, so it's definitely more feasible to see dlc on wii. The SD cards should be more than big enough, however up until now Nintendo hasn't allowed people to play content directly off SD cards, you have to transfer it to internal memory (for piracy purposes I imagine.)

So, we'll see what happens. I'm sure EA would want to sell Nintendo owners new tracks, it's just a matter of working out the details.

The game is awesome on it's own, but having new songs come out really keeps it fresh for a long time (which is what you need with a $170 game.)

Wow, just wow. I played it on a 360 before the super bowl started. Drums are hard, set list was pretty good, fender was a little different. I give it five fucking stars. Will mos' def' be getting this.
