I've never had them like that. Is it a different taste? I'll try it

Serve them cold?? My husband made me try some - and to me it seemed that they were in water, or some other liquid, and kept hot.

As much as I don't want to admit it, they are good. Makes me feel like a redneck to even say "boiled peanuts" though.

You remove them from the shell and eat them. Deep fried peanuts are almost as good. Those you can eat shell and all.

Cool, thanks Larry. Next time you've got the whole nut thing going on - try these (from Nigela :cheesy: ). I made a variation of these once and they just about blew my head off.

500g unsalted mixed nuts, : peeled peanuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans and whole unpeeled almonds
2 tbsp Rosemary, fresh, coarsely chopped
    0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
    2 tsp dark muscovado sugar
Substitution: If you can’t get muscovado, use a good quality dark brown sugar.
    2 tsp Maldon sea salt
    1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

    Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas 4.

    2. Toss the nuts in a large bowl to combine and spread them out on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven till they become light golden brown, about 10 minutes.

3.In a large bowl, combine the rosemary , cayenne, muscavado sugar, salt and melted butter.

    4. Thoroughly toss the toasted nuts with the spiced butter and serve warm. And once you eat these, you will never want to stop.

Yea, I should have really clarified that it was the spice, but hey - nuts blowing your head off can be a divine thing indeed .
