Blame your coach. He should have full court pressed the entire game. Maryland's gaurds are suspect ball handlers.

Maybe if he takes the rims down during practice again, things will get better. LOL, Roy is an idiot. LOL

Good grief. All of you, including the self-flagellating Carolina fans, need to get a life.

 

Roy's talent masks his poor coaching on the floor. His practices are good and he usually prepares his teams well, but his in game coaching is slack. Why TH was the one shooting the game ending shot to win it is the worst imaginable thing possible. That far out a shooter gets the ball, not him. Danny Green, UNC's second best shooter was the one passing it in, that should have been TH. It's easy to be arm chair coach, but all that just seems obvious to me.

 

You don't have one of the highest winning percentages of all-time just by being a great recruiter. Moreover, the fact that someone may (and your judgment on that is suspect anyway) make in-game mistakes is not evidence that they are a poor in-game coach. All coaches will make those mistakes, the question is their frequency and significance. The fact that Roy is the fastest in history to 500 wins pretty conclusively suggests that he's not a poor in-game coach.


How so many Carolina fans can be simultaneously unbearably arrogant and unreasonably pessimistic is beyond me.

 

you're right, but he's not the perfect coach and he is is going to make mistakes. I'll rephrase by saying if he had one area he needs to improve on as a coach it is in game coaching. That seemed to be one of Dean's demons too, he made some critical mistakes during the game in his career, mistakes that made it difficult for him to win the "big one" so many times. I love Roy, I don't think there is anything better, I'll take the fact that's the only thing he needs to work on when his mentor had the same issues.

that's where losing Frasor really hurts the Heels. Frasor was a good defender/pressing guard. Lawson runs hard enough pushing the ball on offense, if Roy has him pushing full court on defense all game he'll be dead with ten minutes left.

As for Roy being an idiot - he'd run circles around lutz in his sleep.


Hopefully the Heels snap out of this bad stretch and come back with a vengance. It's still a two horse race between dook and the Heels in the ACC. Wouldn't surprise me to see them run off 10 wins in a row. But they won't do it playing like the last few games.
