I went through the same thing last year. Ran out of P and it crept back on me. When I went back they put me on Biaxin, which is like swallowing a fist...I HATE taking pills, but tat stuff seemed to work. I am going to try to go in tomorrow or Tuesday.

I am in a heavy lifting phase of my workout, so it didn't seem to puff me up that way, but it did last year.

One of my closest friends was finally diagnosed with Lupus last year and is just finishing up her 4th month of prednisone. I say finally because she'd been told she had a sinus infection for the last 2 years of her life. Anyways, she's tiny, but her face swelled up really badly at first. She's always been so pretty, but I almost didn't recognize her anymore. Thankfully, she seems to be adapting and last time I saw her, she looked great again.

Yeah they've had to put me on Biaxin as well in the past. I'm thinking I need a good prescription for it again. Bad thing is everything is closed tomorrow so I'll have to wait until Tuesday (when I'm also dealing with getting a new drivers license and everything else since I lost everything on Friday sometime!)

Just for your information, prednisone will usually give patients what is referred to as the 5 Ps:

    Polyuria (PU): peeing often
    Polyphagia (P): eating often
    Polydypsia (PD): drinking often
    Pot belly: obvious
    Panting: um, well, um

    That's for dogs anyway...

I would guess since a dog pants when it's hot, then in humans it probably causes increased sweating but I'm not 100% sure on that.

So it sounds like you are experiencing normal side effects of pred.

However, if you have a concurrent renal (kidney) disease then you might want to talk to your physician. I'm sure they tested that before putting you on it, but in case they didn't you might want to talk to them if you have any kidney disease such as kidney failure or diabetes.

    Hope this helps.

My wife had some Biaxin left over, she quit taking it because it made her sick to her stomach. I am going to polish that off (5 days worth) and see what happens. I'll do damn near anything to avoid going back to the doctor...but DAMN those pills are huge!
