    I hate it when they take someone like her, say "oh, she played all the instruments", when it's essentially "she can play guitar and beat on things", call her some enlightened artist who beat the odds to not be a fluff singer, when it's "that one song" and the fluff. It's good enough for what it is, but damn.

    It's like when that Colbie Caillat girl came out, and everyone was "OMG she can play guitar how dreamy" and she's essentially just holding the fucking thing, showing in the five times she tries to play a chord that what she's doing is a foreign concept. Bonus points for putting her up on myspace and pretending she didn't have a contract, and someone "finally picked her up" because she was just that good.
