    I think you guys missed the primary underlying reason for this trade.
    The Red's have 3 other left-handed hitting outfielders (Freed,Griffey & Dunn) in addition to Norris Hopper.

    No, I already mentioned that Dunn will be a free agent after the season and who knows how long Griffey will be around. Hamilton is the one they should have kept, while trading one of the other two.

    I didn't see where you mentioned that the Reds had 4 left-handed hitting outfielders, which was why Hamilton was expendable...but I do agree, that he would have been the last one I would have traded. In any event, Ron Washington & the Rangers are thrilled to have him.
