Selig is like Nero, he was fiddling while Rome was burning. 3 more years of an owners lackey.

GOOD BUD: Oversaw most MLB getting shiny new ballparks at public taxpayer expense . . . Values of teams go thru the roof (see Yanks, Mets, Red Sox, etc.) . . Finally resolved Expos issue (Washington Nationals)

BAD BUD: Steroids scandal tarnishes his tenure . . . Being an ex-owner (Brewers), he pretty much works for his buddies vs. being a truly independent overseer of the game

BOTTOM LINE: Bud's done OK, but I think the Steroid scandal brings his overall grade to about a C in my book

He deserves blame for the steroids issue, but the criticism of Selig is hilariously inappropriate. People seem to forget the state of the game before he took over. It's now ludicrously more popular and more profitable than it was then. Just because he looks like a troll doesn't mean he hasn't done a good job, but the media and some ignorant fans continue to bash him anyway.

I just wish baseball could figure out some kind of salary cap like football to make it more balanced and more fair in regards to the teams. I know it's not fair to the owners, but football did it. What are your thoughts on that Collin? the good and the bad?

I'd be in favor of a salary cap, especially a modified type that affected signing free agents more than keeping guys you developed yourself.

Until the antitrust exemption is ever changed (highly unlikely), there will never be a salary cap

a highly underrated fact. The labor relations have never been close prior to Selig

Selig said he would retire when the current deal expired. So much for that
