Way to pretty much totally disprove the measuring stick that you are trying to use.

UCLA accounts for almost all of those PAC 10 titles and during their run of consecutive championships, the knock was always that they never had to play anyone prior to the Final 4. Similar problem with the SEC/Kentucky.

National Chamiponships aren't really a good bar don't neccessarily determine which conference is consistently the best.

How come almost every Tar Heel "fan" i talk to always brings up the NCAA Championships then when discussing the ACC? I'd through State into that also, but I just laugh at those fans.

I have no idea, but it's clearly not the best measuring stick out there. I would say that Final 4's is a much better one, because in one game scenarios anything can happen.

In fact, I would say that the ACC has underperformed in the championship area.

Collin would have you believe that playoff systems aren't a good way to determine the best team anyway.

All right, I'll concede. Maybe the Niners couldn't beat the Heels this year, but we damn sure could kick NC State's ass!! :13:

Actually, you said that going back 20 years wasn't good enough. So I went back to the beginning.

I'm sure if I pick the exact right time frame, the ACC will come out on top!

Go back as far as you like, but you're not using a good criteria to validate relative conference strength, as I showed you with both UCLA and Kentucky.

    You haven't shown anything.

    You shared an opinion.

Feel free to post the conference breakdown of final fours.

No, I showed you that that most of the PAC 10 championships came from one school in a brief period.

    Basketball (11)
    1964
    1965
    1967
    1968
    1969
    1970
    1971
    1972
    1973
    1975
    1995

    http://uclabruins.cstv.com/trads/ucla-championships.html

Similar for Kentucky and the SEC

    1948
    1949
    1951
    1958
    1978
    1996
    1998

    None of that is opinion.

I found a thing in a Gibbons article that says that the Big 10 has teh most Final 4 appearances, with 39 trips.

Here is a blulrb from an SEC site with a breakdown of the last 15 years.

    SEC AMONG FINAL FOUR LEADERS
In the last 15 NCAA Tournaments (1993-2007), the SEC’s 12
Final Four appearances are the second most by any conference.
With Florida and LSU returning to the Final Four in the 2006 season,
the SEC has had a total of five different teams to make the national
semifinals, behind only the Big Ten’s seven over the 15-year span.
This year’s Final Four showing gives the SEC its 22nd all-time
appearances (27th including five appearances by Arkansas prior to
    joining the SEC).
Atlantic Coast (13) - Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Maryland
SEC (12) - Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi St.
Big Ten (11) - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota,
    Ohio State, Wisconsin
Big 12* (7) - Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas
Big East^ (7) - Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette,
    Syracuse
    Pacific-10 (7) - Arizona, Stanford, UCLA
*Including teams part of the Big 8; ^Including teams part of C-USA
    before joining the Big East

So you agree the SEC has been as consistently good as the ACC?

    Cool.
