I now have about 30 or so HD channels on TW and have my HD box set to boot up on Channel 285 (ESPNHD). I pretty much never stray from that band of channels (except for sports on CSTV or ESPNU, or for Comedy Central). They just added Food Network, HGTV & National Geographic to the HD lineup.

I think they're compressing the signal a bit more now, which I'm not crazy about, but they have to compete with the dish, which has been doing that for a while. I really only notice it during football games when I see tons of compression artifacts in the crowd.

But I interrupted the 768p plasma fanboys... as they were.

I have both and their both great. Plasma is a better picture according to everyone that looks at both of them but I think the difference is negligible.

You'll never hit the shelf life in a plasma, so it really doesn't matter. That is a non-factor.

I will agree with HH's standard HD post...if you buy plasma go with samsung or panasonic.

Seriously - move all the sports shit up, make them all HD, and I'm right there with you.

They've got the resolution where it needs to be, now they need to seriously improve motion blur and contrast. The stuff they're already working on.

I think the bigger issue is improving content delivery. Higher speed broadband (FIOS?) is going to allowed the providers to pump 1080p/60, possibly uncompressed (little over my head there) for every channel, and similarly, in a few years, you're gonna be able to buy a $50 1080p/60 HD player at Wal-mart, plus media encoded at that framerate.

Now what are they gonna call those dics? "TruHDDVD"? "TruBluRay"?

dont know but anyone thinking of buying br or hd player should wait. Got the toshiba hd for christmas without doing some research. had no idea that it was about a 50/50 split on movies offered for each format. of course there are quite few br titles that I was wanting.
