    agreed.

    The thing is, we
don't need a 2nd WR of Moss' caliber as much as we need an end of Peppers'. Even if Peppers is damaged goods for the short term.

you aren't going to get good value for Peppers unless the other team has an extention worked out prior to the trade. Teams aren't going to give up a ton just to rent him for a year. We face a similar problem when it comes to unloading Jenkins. A team isn't going to give you much in return when they know they in all likelyhood have him for only two years and then leave to sign with an east coast team.

Need? no but it would be a nice thing to have. If we had Moss on the field with Smith and DW we would have three guys who can make big plays. Even if the rest of offense sucked we would still be dangerous. Imagine running a reverse with Smith and Moss.....

Actually we don't need a Moss. We just need someone who can run the pass route like it's drawn up and then catch the fucking football when it's thrown their way. Sort of like Keyshawn Johnson.

Unless the game is on the line and the corner or safety out muscles him to the ball even though Key was 30 pounds and four inches bigger.

or unless it's versus Dallas and the ball is perfectly thrown.

Our offense sucked with Smith and DW on the field, adding one player won't all of a sudden make it "dangerous". I don't think our offensive problems are about not having "dangerous" offensive weapons. If you run a reverse with Smith and Moss, but say DW does not pick up a blitz and the reverse is blown up for a loss, or an o-lineman misses an assignment and a DT is in our QB's face before he even hands off to begin with.....etc. Imo our issues on offense are more about the trenches then about adding "playmakers".

well, for one, the two are similar type players (kudos to LarryD, who in 2001 said we really needed a Santana Moss type player - which we proceeded to get in Smith). Two, I look at the 2nd WR spot as just a guy who needs to be reliable and hold down a job for a year or two, as opposed to a guy who needs to take up a bunch of cap for 5 years.

I think we could get one 1st rounder for Pep, and I would take it. Even if he explodes elsewhere, he's too much of a tease. Even when he had a monster year he was very inconsistent. Hopefully we would get some conditional stuff next year if things turn out well for the other team.

Pep scares me. I don't think a year like this one happening again is too improbable. Maybe he has run his course here and wants to go. Either way, giving him a huge deal at this point is a big gamble, and I'd be more inclined to go with youth if he's going to cost us close to what D/F got from the Colts. I could see him signing a fat contract and just coasting.
