What could we get for Peppers if we trade him?

Moss is a free agent. If we want him we could get him. It would cost a ton though.

The "Skins" will resign Moss. (sorry I got my hopes up about the wrong Moss)

We will go after resigning Keary Colbert.

    Carter is more likely.

I don't think the skins will just bend over and give their best receiver and their first round pick. In fact I don't think the skins would be into this trade at all, they made a lot of comments after the last draft about how happy they were that they hadn't traded this upcoming one away.

They might not go for that. I would not if I were them. They do a lot of dumb stuff though so who knows. Having Steve Smith and Santana Moss as our starters gives me a warm fuzzy feeling though.

But would you still have that same warm fuzzy feeling with those 2 WR's if it meant minus Peppers? That is the question, and that is tough, especially if he would come back next year and play like he can.

We have to keep in mind that in order to trade pepper if we chose to.We can't trade him to a team who is over the salary cap

The cap is a joke. The skins proved that years ago.

No one will give us what Peppers is worth. Teams are scared away by his poor performance this year, and the whispers that his heart isn't into football any more. Someone MIGHT cough up a first rounder, but that would be it, considering the salary cap implications. Due to what his cap number is next year ($16 million), we are forced into a position where we almost HAVE to extend him. Consider the following from Gannt:

So it's a roll of the dice either way. Knowing the money and the uncertainty involved, the safer bet is to take that first rounder, invest it in a young defensive end, and save the cap space, ala the New England Patriots.
