    Roberts admits to using roids one time.

    Report: Roberts, named by Mitchell, says he tried steroids in 2003

    BALTIMORE -- Breaking his silence on the inclusion of his name in the Mitchell Report, Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts admitted that he used steroids once in 2003.

    In an interview in Tuesday's editions of The (Baltimore) Sun, Roberts acknowledged that he used steroids "once" in 2003. However, he said he hadn't used steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs since.

    In a statement he issued to The (Baltimore) Sun, Roberts said that after the single injection he immediately realized that it was not what he "stood for" or anything he wanted to continue doing. He said he's sorry he did it and said he regrets making what he says was a "terrible decision."

    Roberts was named in the Mitchell Report because former Orioles teammate Larry Bigbie told investigators Roberts had told him he used steroids "once or twice" in 2003.

    It'll be interesting to see all the lame excuses people will come up with. and let's face it, the I-injected-myself-with-steroids-and-immediately-realized-it's-not-what-I-stood-for excuse is lame, if not unique. I'm guessing the prevailing explanation will be Pettitte's "I took them to recover from injury" excuse.

    steriods were ok since everyone of them has been injured....and only did it one.:angle2:

    That came out this morning, as of yesterday, he had been put in the report based only on Bigbie recalling that conversation - which is even thinner than Riggs' theory about Dixie.

    In the long run though, there needs to be a separation of people who may have used once or twice (thereby getting no real benefit) and people who were long term users of the stuff and got the benefits.

    Clemmens issues a strong statement denying that he ever used steroids or HGH. I don't believe a word of it. I want to believe him but, how can you?
