No, it hasn't. By any statistical measure, QB depth is better than ever. There have always been terrible quarterbacks, your awareness is just colored by a faulty memory.

A guy who has been solid for years does not suddenly become a bust. Carr didn't suddenly lose the ability to play the position, and his statistical putridity is more of a reflection of our bad situation than his talent.

We weren't going to carry Carr and we shouldn't. Our situation is unfortunate, but his issues are his.

I don't feel like he got a lot of help with them though. At every possible turning point things turned against him. The injury right off the bat started it, limited his mobility, kept him out of practice. When he came back and wasn't moving as well, it limited his effectiveness. He's skittish playing with his spine injured (fractured?, I'd be skittish hell I'd make sure I had a living will). The OL sucks bad right when we most need them not to. Then the team goes against him, the fans, just everything. It could have gone a lot better had a couple of things gone the other way. He had a jinx.

It's gone too far now, though. Hopeless for him here and probably in the NFL.

2 thing about Possible backup QB.I think our backup QB next year might be Basanez .The Cats were very high on him in the off season. And had he stay healthy the cats would have not sign Vinny. And anther thing if not Basanez then fine.I think in this case we should draft a QB and let him develop and let him start in 2 to 3years. as much as we all would love a healthy Jake next year we should draft a QB because he is 32years old.And chances are at most he will play for anther 3 to 4years

Certainly, he didn't get a lot of help. If he's shell-shocked, or other analogue excuses for Houston ruining him, it's still him. I don't buy that it's the offense that ruined Carr, rather than the other way around.

I would argue that his time in Houston was not "solid". I will concede he was better there than he has been here.

As far as our bad situation he was faced with the same thing that Jake had to deal with and Jake was doing very well. I know Jake played against some weak teams but we have played some weak ones since then too and failed to capitalize.

Carr is just a free agent bust. He was not the first and wont be the last. I think his career is on the verge of being over. No team is going to want to pay him after this season.

I didn't mean to imply that the offense ruined him. Can't deny the OL totally sucked in at least one start though. I do think if he'd not gotten hurt things may have gone a lot better. Basically I guess I was just lamenting that absolutely nothing that could have gone right did.

Once again, Carr was much, much better in Houston than he has looked here. Spin that any way you want, but the implications seem pretty clear.

Too bad Basanez has been injured all season. I liked what little I've gotten to see of him and this would have been the perfect time to find out if he's really something the Panthers can use in the future.

I don't want Culpepper, in fact of that list Harrington hasn't done a bad job in Atlanta considering the total meltdown of that team.

This offense was also much better before David Carr, but nice job on the Bill O'Reilly. I know you want to defend your guy and attack the guy who replaced your guy, but no, David Carr isn't bad because this offense made him bad. He's got the exact same problems as he did in Houston, and similar talent despite our mystifying decision to get both younger and less talented.
