I have been thinking of getting one of those prepaid phones. I currently have an Alltel phone that costs me $59.99 per month. I wonder if I could save with one of those Trac Phones. I do not use a lot of minutes each month.

If you don't need many minutes, why are you paying for a $60 plan?

If you call them they will tell you your average monthly usage and you can decide from there.

I have my phone and one for my wife and one for the kids so I have three total phones. If I take the $60 plan then I get the extra phones for $10 each. If I drop it down to the $40 plan then they charge me $20 per extra phone.

Do the extra phones use the same pool of minutes?

Just curious - how many minutes do you get for $60 these days? If you have three phones sharing them it can't be very many.

I hate to even say how much I spend for four phones sharing minutes. With two of them teenagers that love to text I had to either do without or pay a premium to max out the minutes/features. It seems like a lot of money but the premium easily pays for one month of overages.

They use the same pool of minutes. I have 900 per month. We probably use half that many.

That's not a bad deal. 3 for $80 per month?

It ends up being more like $100 once they throw in all the fees and taxes and crap. It is not a horrible deal but I would like to do better than that if possible.

I think my wife and I are around $200 per month for data, texting, and minutes.
