    No way that would work. The almighty Rose Bowl committee would never let their baby be considered a quarterfinal game or lower than any bowl :greedy:

    There is no rule now that you have to be a conference champion to be in the national championship game, which is how it should be. If two teams are pretty even, but one is a champion and one isn't, then that can be the deciding factor like it was between LSU and Georgia. But if Georgia had 1 loss and LSU had 2 but won the SEC, I think Georgia would be more deserving. In any case, it's pretty clear that giving every conference champion a spot in your playoff makes little sense.

    But since they answer to the entire BCS system, it appears The Rose Bowl committee does what the BCS says. They dont like it when the games are paired up between teams not coming from the Big Ten or Pac-10 - but they do it anyways.

    I'm not sure any team has ever been "forced" in or out of a conference or a division they qualify for, or if you legally can.

    Notre Dame is never going to join a conference as long as they have that TV deal.
