you can get around the tiny conference thing by either breaking them up and absorbing them into bigger conferences to balance them out at roughly 12 teams each (the Pac 10 would stay at 10 teams, the Mid-American adds 1 team to go to 14, the rest stay at or expand to 12) or banish them to FCS division. The 4 BCS independents should have to join a conference as well. I could lay out a 10 conference setup that'd eliminate the problem right now. Take the 10 conference champs and 6 at large teams and have at it.

16 teams are WAY too many.

16 teams max. Ideally I'd like to see the BCS division shrunk to 96 teams from its present 120. 8 conferences of 12 teams. Since no one at the NCAA office wants to do it, I'd think it'd be a reasonable compromise that if you want to keep all 120 shrink the number of conferences from 11 to 10 and make the 4 independents sign on somewhere. 10 champs and 6 at large is the best we can hope for. I'd prefer 8 champs and 8 at large. If the Sunbelt and the Mid American were to be knocked down a notch, that knock out 21 of the 24 teams you needed to get down to 96. Add Western Kentucky to those and you'd only need to find two more to get there.

I was basing it from memory of something some friends and I put together a few years ago. I talked to my buddy today, it was actually supposed to be 8 teams...

    Quarter Final
1 Ohio State* vs. 8 Kansas
    2 LSU vs. 7 USC*
3 Virginia Tech* vs. 6 Missouri
    4 Oklahoma vs 5 Georgia*

    Semi Final
1 Ohio State vs. 7 USC*
3 Virginia Tech vs. 5 Georgia*

    TRUE National Championship
    Georgia vs. USC

The Quarter and Semi final use the existing BCS bowls and then there is an additional Bowl added for the championship. If you're not in the top 8, you're screwed and the rankings are based on the AP/Coaches/BCS polls averaged.
Otherwise, the bowl system is little more than a PICK-UP GAME.

I think you are trying too hard. You think the Florida Atlantic's should be guaranteed a shot at a title, just for winning their crappy conference. I don't.

I'd hate to see the conferences screwed up just to put the mid majors on the same level as the bigger conferences. C-USA has a good thing going in basketball. Leave em alonee.

I think four more games is too much, three (8 teams) is even pushing it...but it would allow all the deserving teams and probably one or two duds. You go 4 teams, a couple deserving teams are likely to get left out.

Bottom line, it's gotta make as much or more money to be feasible. If WV and Mizzou had won, there would be some consideration behind closed doors. Alas, they did not and the BCS good ol' boys were able to set things up to line thier pockets nicely.:moon:
