No kid has every smoked because of a billboard or Joe Camel. They smoke because other teens are doing it.

Now I guess the same thing can be said about going to church. Kids don't go to church because of Jerry Falwell, they go to church because their friends are there or their parents make them. But I surely will not say it's wrong to make your kids go to church.

But I will say a five yeard old could give a crap about the old testament. They want a cracker and some grape juice.

There are families out there that would rather their kid spend a lifetime smoking than an eternity in hell....how's that for perspective?

Let's say you died tomorrow and woke up in hell and (not saying you did this) but every conversation you had with your child you really pushed that there was no God. Wouldn't you feel a little guilty?

Projecting Pascal's Wager onto my kids? Nice, Sly.

Contrary to what you may think, I don't push my non-belief onto my kids. Rather I challenge them to think for themselves and not take things as given because someone told them it was the socially acceptable thing to do. I hope to raise children that think rather than "believe" and guess what, the Chronicles of Narnia hasn't damaged that.

Pascal's wager or not. The question is a good one. If you woke up in hell would you feel guilty or not? I know the answer. Don't bother.

And contrary to popular belief, you can both think and believe. There have been far too many very famous thinkers that proved that.
