    I'm sorry, am I missing something? Is there a threshold for how much contact is a foul or is the writier admitting that it was actually a foul, but he didn't want to see it called?

    It's obviously a judgement call. The whole point is that ticky tacky fouls shouldn't be called to decide a game. This is just one example.

    when's the cutoff for when ticky tack fouls shouldn't be called? 2 minutes left? 5 minutes left?

    or should it be done by the margin of the lead? within 6 points? 10 points?

    what if a ticky tack foul is called in the first half resulting in two free throws then the fouling team loses by a point, was that a bad call too?
