No one gets paid based on how hard their job is. You get paid based on how rare your skills are versus how many people are willing to fill that role, and tens of millions of Americans could do your job (or mine) while less than 5 in the world could do A-Rod's. Even so, if people would stop rewarding advertisers which in turn drive these huge network contracts which in turn are responsible for huge player salaries, they wouldn't make quite so much.

yep and it's blown up in his face. A Rod apparently worked out his deal without him and Kenny Rodgers has since fired him. Hopefully the trend continues. Boras is a cancer on pro sports.

Reports now are that Warren Buffett helped Arod or at least gave him some advice. Not a bad guy to have or your side on a business deal.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Warren Buffett advised Alex Rodriguez to approach the New York Yankees and go around agent Scott Boras, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
The newspaper cited a person familiar with the matter, whom it did not identify.
"A-Rod really loves being a Yankee," Buffett was quoted as saying. He wouldn't comment on the substance of any discussions with the player.
The two became friends several years ago. Rodriguez, on Boras' advise, opted out of the final three seasons of his record $252 million, 10-year contract on Oct. 28. The Yankees had said many times that if he opted out, they wouldn't negotiate because they would lose $21.3 million from Texas for the final three seasons that was agreed to at the time of the 2004 trade, money to offset the $72 million New York owed from 2008-10.
Upset with developments after he opted out, Rodriguez contacted Buffett, and the investor told him to approach the Yankees without his agent, the Journal said.

After speaking with Buffet, Rodriguez contacted a managing director at Goldman Sachs that he knew, John Mallory, who then got in touch with Gerald Cardinale, a Goldman Sachs managing director who has worked with the Yankees and their YES Network.
With the assistance of the two Goldman executives, Rodriguez and the Yankees negotiated a $275 million, 10-year contract that is in the process of being finalized. "This year was a magical season," Rodriguez told MLB.com. "The way things went, we came up a little short at the end. But other than that, I'm happy with the way the year went. My wife and I finally feel like we're New Yorkers."

What a guy is paid is an issue is up to his employer so ARod gets a bundle. The problem is the tremendous revenue disparity in MLB. Arod could only have gotten this money from The Evil Empire. They have by far the largest revenue stream and that's what bothers me. I know that they have been paying a "payroll tax" as a part of the revenue sharing program in baseball but even with that they have too much of an advantage. Even the Dodgers and the Angels saw that it would be insane to fork over the mega bucks to get AROD. Rodriquez is the best player in the game so he deserves to be paid the most but the game is getting beyond the ability of Joe Q Public to go to the ballpark. It's nuts and we help to make it so but the NFL truly does a system that is unique and the best.

That's not true. A-Rod's $27 million a year contract is only what Jason Schmidt and Juan Pierre make combined. Would you rather have him or those two? The Dodgers have more than enough money, they've just spent it poorly.

Arod had no chance in hell of getting those type of bucks from either the Dodgers or the Angels. The Angels had almost ignored him because the owner had let it be known that Arod was too pricey. The Dodgers could only hope to get him by him accepting something less than what he expected. This has been reported over and over in both NY and LA. Arod knew this and that's why he went back to New York. If the Gotham tabloids are correct (who knows) the Yankees outbid themselves. The team that made off like a thief was the Rangers because they are now off the hook for the option years.

I like how you respond with such ignorance while completely ignoring my points that proved you wrong. Both Los Angeles teams had the money, they simply didn't step to the table. At least you get production from A-Rod for $27.5 million, unlike Zito for $18 mil and so many others for $10+ mil. The Dodgers are paying Schmidt $16 mil a year and Pierre $11 mil a year. Combined, they're A-Rod. Thus they could obviously afford Rodriguez, they've just spent their money stupidly.
