Yeah. 2 bad offenses, 2 losing efforts.

The more I look at it, the worse it's been.

We're not going to be able to run like we want until we can at least pass a little, and having guys who were not in camp with us is making that pretty difficult. People do not respect our passing game past Smitty, for good reason right now.

It's not as if the offense was up and running great and we just had to plug in a Qb, it is new for everyone and they are still not there (because of that I had expected the offense and particularly the OL to struggle during the first half of the year at least, even before our starting LG gets himself suspended for two games). Add it up and it equals a tough row to hoe for anyone.

I definitely support holding on to Fox and am giving Davidson blanket immunity on the year because of the QB situation.

edit: I'm thinking it's a good thing Coughlin is doing well, because with all the shit coming down here an open NYG job would look pretty good to Fox at year's end.

We're 4-5 minus Jake and Morgan (added for argument's sake)

the Colts are 7-2 minus their starting LT from last year and his replacement for the last couple of games, minus Harrison for most of the season, now minus Gonzalez, Clark, and a couple more injuries (Freeney, Deim, their 3rd string LT, and Keiaho to name a few)

why can they overcome injuries and we can't? Two reasons-coaching and the way the roster was built.

Our system seems to be built where we really don't need superstar play....but all parts have to be working, because one part doesn't seem to be able to pick up the slack if another goes down. In theory it's great because you don't have to rely on one guy, but in practice it seems that no 2 parts can carry the whole if one fails.

Seriously, the only all pro guy the Colts have on D is Freeney, their O line isn't stacked with all pros either. They get the job done and we don't.

The reason people are calling for Fox's head isn't just how bad the offense is looking this year. Like others have said, it's a collective thing going back to last offseason and before. Not to mention his defense which has been inconsistent and underperforming since '05, and maybe since '03. It's a team sport, and right now, the whole team is failing. Okay, so give our offense a bit of a pass -- new OC, impossible QB situation. Ain't nothin' wrong with ST, but they've been a disgrace this year. DEF has been shaky between starting in an unnecessary hole at S and the rotation at LB, but both positions have firmed up with the emergence of Beason and the improvement of Cooper and Harris. I don't think even one of our DL has landed on an injury report, and the product they've put on the field this year is completely unacceptable. It's putrid.

The strange thing is that Fox seems to buy into the philosophy that football is won in the trenches, but one could argue that aside from QB and ST, the trenches are one of our weakest areas.

Actually, Fox was misquoted. What he said was, "Football is won by guys with trenchfoot"

Bob Sanders might disagree with your opinion that Freeney is the only Colt playing at an All-Pro level.
