Heard this discussed at lenght on the radio today when discussing Fox and Hurney's future.

    Question is..............

Can Fox and Hurnery turn this team around for next year? If not, then we must go in another direction.

Btw I think people are forgetting one huge thing. Last year everyone pick us to go to the super bowl and win it. And guess what we finish 8-8 so last year Fox and Hurney's got a pass they had their chances to upgrade the Roster instead they fire Dan Henning which I thought it was a very good move. Other then getting Chris Harris from the bears for a 5th rd. picks. Other then the play that ATL has scores that TD to win the game. Harris can we say he has been our best player on defense this year. Anyway in the off-season one thing at time I thought it was an ok move turn out to be a bad move releasing Keyshawn Johnson Hurney’s and Fox were hoping that Keary Colbert and or Drew carter or Dwayne Jarrett would develop into a number 2wrs Not number 1 but number 2.Keary Colbert as far as becoming a number 2WR he is a busts. Drew carter will never become a number 2WR but could become a 3rd WR. Dwayne Jarrett the verdict is still out on him. I think who ever Scout for us this person must be fire ASAP because of our scouting department The last few draft we have draft 1 or 2 good player and the rest of them don’t make the team Also because of our scouting department we have Sign David Carr. The blame probably has to go more toward Hurney’s then to fox. But the real problem that Fox don’t get is we don’t have the roster like we did 03. When will Fox will learn that Deshaun Foster is not Stephen Davis Deshaun Foster he is a not a power Rb he is more of east to west Rb then a north to south Rb.If they want to find someone like Stephen Davis in the off season they should have made an offer to Michael Turner Maybe work a trade with SD. Anyway let me end this by saying last year Fox and Hurney's had an excuse because Steve smith was out for first 2games of the season and Jake was out for 3games of the season But this year they have run out of excuses .either get this team to the playoff win some home games win a playoff game. Or go find anther job with anther team

Agreesome...these guys still have some long term impact potential, especially King...and I'm not ready to write off Ryne Robinson....

Steve Smith was shaky at first when he was a returner, and Smitty seems to see something in him as well.

What? He returned his first one for a TD and then went to the pro bowl. Smitty was never shaky.

No shit. Robinson has improved, but I think it's more of the question of who else are we going to stick back there.

Fair enough, shaky was the wrong term....he did fumble 2 in one game on mental mistakes, so I'm sure he can feel his pain. And he seems to be mentoring Robinson.

Edit: And let's be honest...there was a time when most of us thought Smith should go.

I know I wasn't part of that 'most'. I've been up his jock big time, mainly b/c I always pull for undersized attitude cases that rub tiger balm on their balls.

I wasn't his biggest fan after the film room incident....but he really manned up and did alot of the right things after that, for me anyway. He showed that he realized what a privelege it was to be paid a shitload of money to play a game. He still does.....so he won me back after that.

Not that he gives a shit what I think, but everyone's angle is different.

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home

yep. one of my biggest mistakes, under-rating him in mid-03. He was still costing us at that point, but he just kept getting better.
I loved him as a returner, and wanted a better receiver as a starter so he could work the slot. And then he just kept getting better.

I do remember reading that you thought Byrd should start over Smith to start 02, but that was most people's suggestion. I held that attitude into 03, because I didn't think Dyson was enough and Proehl was just a slot. Smith filled that need with a vengeance. I took a while to come around.
