that's the thing. The experienced guys out there are the same type guy. Ones that look very progressive when they're winning, very conservative when they're not.

The inexperienced guys, for the most part, are defensive guys.

P.S., all three coaches we've hired were defensive guys.

I'd like to see this quote, word for fucking word, come out of Fox's mouth sometime this week.

He needs to skip lighting a fire and just shoot a rocket up some asses.:tank:

    that is complacency.
by that philosophy, coaching changes are made much like supreme court justices.
    i don't think anyone's head is needed.
that doesn't mean i don't think there aren't things that need to be improved upon.
if that means that a head is necessary, then do it.
we've all watched this team blunder through the past 3 seasons.
    well so-and-so was injured.
    well who kept so-and-so around?
well what's-his-name was calling dumb plays.
well we still have those same dumb plays that we all scream and throw remotes at the tv over.

    so who do i want?

someone that isn't going to shrug and deliver a close-to-the-vest cliche about bbq, magic wands and what it is, to pishposh another mind-boggling loss.

That's kind of my point. I'm not trying to diss Jake. I'm saying that in this scheme against a team like Atlanta, Vinny should be enough. I don't think Vinny lost the game for us and the OL only gave up 2 sacks on a 44 year old quarterback who's never been known for his mobility. Either the scheme is a problem or there's an overall lack of talent. Either way it falls to Fox and Hurney.

"Well, maybe Steve Spurrier will come back to the NFL and we can lose while being boring and angry. While I agree that I'd like to see us be more progressive on O, I'd rather win a game than it be fun."

    But we're not winning.
Losing, boring and angry is an apt enough description of Steve Spurrier's Redskins. It also describes us pretty well.

"I fucking hope so, he's the only other good end we have. Age is slowly catching up to him, but he still makes plays occasionally, and plays smart the whole game.[/QUOTE]

Again, that's a real problem because we've drafted defensive ends and we let a perfectly good one go in Al Wallace. And while I have all the respect in the world for the player Mike Rucker has been, today's sack not withstanding, age has not only caught him, it's sacked him.

    Hmm...

Props to Vinnie for playing hurt, the D sucks (except Beason who is a beast) and they made harrington look like a backup pro bowler.

I was lucky enough to get tix close to the field and saw peppers half way running no less than 6 times...he is trying to get outta here.

:ack2: <That was Baker on the that last punt......

I was listening to somebody talking about baseball managers on espn and they were saying that you replace a Joe Torre with a Lou Pinella and you replace a Lou Pinella with a Joe Torre, meaning you replace the stoic guy with someone more fiery and vice versa. I think we need the fiery guy,

I detailed some of it here. But as I said, I don't think Richardson will make wholesale changes this off-season. I think Jake's absence is just too convenient an excuse, plus it's hard to abandon a tandem that did get you to some high points. As for what I would do if I were in charge, some calls are easy and some aren't.

John Fox - I don't know. It certainly seems like it might be time for a change even though he is a good if flawed coach. His dedication to certain players is nice from a human perspective, but serves to differentiate him from someone like Belichick who just cares about winning. It leads him to do things like continuing to start Stephen Davis in '05 even though he was clearly finished, or keeping guys like Hankton & Ciurciu over Tony Brown and Jarrett Bush. That stubborn streak also extends to doing nothing about positions that obviously need to be addressed, like safety and #2 receiver. Still, I'm a strong believer in the idea that you don't fire a coach unless you're sure you can replace him with someone better.

Marty Hurney - He flat out needs to go. Maybe they can bump him up to another position, but he's been terrible as a GM. He has a laundry list of bad contracts to his credit and, by his own admission, is not a talent evaluator. This team needs someone with a more objective eye than Fox who can judge a player's ability.

I'd also hire a better strength & conditioning coach because it sure seems like we're some weak mother fuckers.
