Cool. Any idea how the displays on the Vostro compare with the the inspiron here? And why Vista Pro?

Wally world had a $350 acer AMD x2 laptop last week. One day sale.

There will be several sub $400 laptops on Black Friday. I'd avoid Acer, and possibly just pay for a Dell Core Duo 2 at the prices quoted (which are very good).

No real idea how the displays compare.

Not sure why they don't give you an option for XP either. Must be a Dell Small Business thing, but it does let you select Vista Home Premium so you don't have to go with the more expensive Business version.

If you're not in a huge hurry (and none of those deals listed above are quite right for you) keep an eye on the techbargains.com site each day for a while. To weed through the other stuff, just do a search for "dell".

I actually know meat, and more importantly, I know that he would pay me. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying a shitload of dells for people that i don't really know except online.

Anybody know the difference between AMD Turion and Intel Centrino Core Duo?

Having a hard time staying under a grand for solid processot, 2GB Ram and decent video card.
