That's a foregone conclusion. Hank Steinbrenner is way too pissed at Rodriguez and Boras to re-sign him, and they'll offer Lowell far more money than Epstein will match (or that he's worth). I imagine that moves Youkilis back to third and opens first for someone. Lars Anderson is still two years away, and I don't see them moving Manny in, but it's easier to fill first than third.

Obviously he just forgot that it was going on.

And Gammons and Olney are both ripping him a new one.

    I blame Boras, not A-Rod.

No offense, fellas.....But there's not one person in any sport worth the money they make. $30 million a year to play a game? That's just ridiculous. The reason why sports generate so much revenue is from the advertisers that promote them, i.e. - (primarily) the beer guys. There are other sponsors but the common denominators of each sport, team, and stadium is alcohol sales.

Don't get me wrong, Rodriguez is good, but him or any other jock isn't worth that much.

I think you are completely wrong. lets do some math. average ticket at wrigley field....lets say its 80 bucks. about 40,000 tickets sold for a home game. we'll say they have 76 home games. That's 3.2 million per game in ticket sales, because Wrigley sales out every game. multiply that by 76 home games, and you get $243,200,000 in regular season ticket sales alone. That doesn't count any TV deals, advertising, or anything. JUST TICKET SALES (not to mention playoff tickets if they make it). A-Rod puts butts in the seats and he IS worth it from an economic point of view to an owner. If you want to blam someone for skyrocketing salaries, blame us. We pay the 80 bucks to see them play and the cable bill to watch them play, and also respond to the advertising that goes on during the game. Yeah, they're worth it......entertainment is king in america.

They get paid to play a GAME!!!! They dont do any real work!! I get paid a meager $30,000 a year to protect the general public from convicted felons and yet A-Rod will get paid more than what i'll make in my career plus retirement to hit, throw, or catch a baseball! The people that work a real job make just enough to survive, while the jocks that do no work live like royalty.

Even the President of The United States only makes $500,000 a year and he's got the hardest job in the world. And still, A-Rod will make that in just that in the span of a few games. Something is very wrong with this picture.

    collective bargaining

i think it would be one of the greatest shows of force ever IF all the major league teams would offer a-rod the league min. then throw in some incentives for his postseason performances!

never act bigger than the game alex. if it was here before you and it will continue once you are gone.
