Anaheim would play him at 3rd. I don't think moving back to SS is very realistic given that he's added bulk. The Cubs also won't be willing to spend much more money given how much they gave out last off-season and the uncertainty surrounding the team's future ownership.

I agree with you keeping him at 3rd for the Angels. Getting rid of Figgins is a lot better move than getting rid of Cabrera.

Scott Boras has all the Yankees front office and ownership on a shish-ko-bob right now. Joe Torre is another log on the fire, along with their loss to Cleveland, the 08 allstar game, the red sox threat & the new stadium in 09.
Arod is not going anywhere, rest assured. The only question is how long they will cook, before Boras takes them off the fire. The Yankees might as well make Arod a part owner and be done with it.

ESPN says A-Rod has opted out of his contract. The Yankees will let him walk.

I like reading how there are only 2 or 3 teams that could "afford" him. Even KC has enough money to afford him. Seeing a player out there this good, and hear how teams "can't afford him", makes me realize how shitty MLB baseball truly is.

It's laughable for the Yankees to say that they're out of the running for A-Rod. If you put any credence in win shares, then New York would have been 68-94 without Rodriguez instead of 94-68 with him. Matsui and Posada were the only two other batters to even reach 20 home runs, and their pitching was pretty mediocre. The Yankees bring in far more revenue than any other team, so for them to pretend that they can't afford him is beyond absurd.

I think that the Cubs are going to be very aggressive in trying to get arod. When Piniella took over the team last year, he was adament about trying to sign rodriguez. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2628823

I think that if they do get A-Rod, its going to be interesting to see what they do with that infield. Maybe put A-Rod at short? I think 2nd would be better for him. Ramirez can really only play 3rd....do you think that A-Rod would consider moving to the outfield?

    Werd.

The Sox fans were chanting "Don't sign Arod" after the game last night. that's good stuff.

They Sox need to worry about signing WS MVP Mike Lowell because you know with April-Rod gone, the Yanks will make a run a Lowell.
