Having Kevin Millar throw out the first pitch before game 7 was a debacle. The Sox, the O's, and Millar, all should be ashamed.

That was a soory attempt to rattle him. Turns out they are still friends and after the game Beckett said "thanks for flying in a good friend and getting her good seats to watch me pitch for free."

so, who sits the bench in colorado?

francona has to choose between Ortiz, Lowell and Youkilis. Lowell led the team in RBIs and was probably the Sox MVP. Youkilis could just as easily have been LCS MVP as Beckett. Ortiz is Ortiz.

I guess he should sit Ortiz against lefties. My gut feeling is to sit Lowell when Ortiz plays, just because Youkilis is on such a hot streak.

too bad Youk couldn't play right field or shortstop

correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't youk play a few games in the OF last year. we have the package and watch most games, and i swear i think i remember him out there a couple times.

francona has a tough call. papi plays, period. then, like you said, you've got your rbi leader who is as money as they come at 3rd, or one of your hottest hitters who is one of the tops in the field at first. tough. i think youk sits and replaces papi in the late innings.

    Remember Bill Buckner...

For me, Big Papi is my PH in Colorado. I'm not messing up my defense in the WS to accomodate a guy who did not even swing the bat very well at all during the last two games. If Tito was gonna play Ortiz at first, don't you think he would have been there when Youk was hurt late in the season ?
The Red Sox are going to have enough trouble with Mannny patroling a huge left field at Coors without worrying about Big Papi at first.
Moving Youk to third ? Sounds like a Mike Fox move.

Ortiz played first in games 3 and 4 at St. Louis in 2004. Youkilis was a third baseman up until Lowell came, and a pretty good one at that. Don't know how that equates to a Mike Fox move.

I don't understand what you're suggesting as far as Youk's late-season injury. Why would you move Ortiz to first when he can DH?

With the exception of the last three games, Ortiz has been swinging the bat great. He's one of the most clutch hitters in recent memory -- regular and post season. No way you relegate him to pinch hitter status, unless the Rockies start a lefty.
