I mention this ONLY because the scribes and know it all's couldn't BELIEVE that State EVER had a chance at a "high profile" coach. . Turns out it almost happened. Oh Well it seems to have worked out for the best for everybody but it shows that those who thought it was a pipe dream for NC State to AIM HIGH were dead wrong.

I thought that was pretty much common knowledge. I thought he couldn't handle operating within the confines of the ACC's academic standards or something. (haven't read that article yet)

Fuck Calapari. I thought I read somewhere while this was actually occurring that one of the main reasons he chickened out of NCSU was that he DIDN'T want to have to try to compete against UNC and Duke on a regular basis. If that's the case, who needs his sniveling ass.
Anyway, Sidney has turned out to be JUUSST fine.

Calipari is a name, but Sidney is a Wuffie.

NCSU oughta be pleased they got a guy who cares about the program, school, and winning. Sidney won't be looking for that next best gig when he gets NCSU back on the hoop map. And they aren't far from it right now...

My point was and IS.....It was like Look at that stpid assed Wolfpack.......Aiming SO HIGH.........Now it looks like they aimed high and had a biggie, but he backed out on them. But the media around here acted like Fowler was an idiot for EVEN THINKING he could get somebody of this caliber.

    That being said....You're right Mike

Id be stoked on Sidney vs. Calapari if I was a Pack fan. as Solarte said hes a woofie, cares about the program and understands the ACC. Its cool to see a guy I watched playing as a kid(me) coaching his Alma mater:basket:

Um... FWIW as a Tar Heel fan we knew State had a shot at Calapari. We all felt it was funny that they took a swing and wiffed.

I think that if Calipari was truly a big name, he wouldn't still be at Memphis. Obviously he can coach, but it seems like he's got way too much baggage for the top schools to take a chance on him.

well, he's not a BIG name (a la K, Roy, Pitino etc...), but a name nonetheless. The baggage makes him less attractive for schools to pursue him (agreeing there), but I think NC State is better off without coach cal.
