The thing I noticed was that the list had Miami and FSU out of the ACC. Yikes.

So I looked up BC. 40-18 the last years.

It's amusing to see you relying on sarcasm because you're obviously defensive about being proven thoroughly wrong, but you're conveniently ignoring one other fact. I didn't list games involving teams like Notre Dame that people assumed would be good but aren't. There are plenty of "big games" each and every college football season, as I showed above. You said something that was incorrect, I proved you wrong, and thus far you have failed to own up to your mistake.
Most of the ones I listed were between top 25 opponents, but I also included ones between top 25s and the type of teams that would qualify as "others receiving votes." You're attempting to set up an artificial barrier that favors your discredited hypothesis because it's obvious that top 25 teams can't just play each other all the time. All the teams I listed were considered legitimate bowl teams, so that certainly qualifies them as "big games" in my opinion.
Teams generally have 7-8 conference games a season out of 12 total games. And remember that the 12th game was only added recently, which made scheduling "big" match-ups for those difficult. So of the games where elite teams have a choice of who they'll play, they play more "big" or solid opponents than cupcakes.
This is actually a separate discussion from you failing to admit that you were wrong about a lack of big games, but your premise that a playoff would encourage more teams to schedule even more quality opponents is questionable at best. It would make much more sense to play it safe since you have a bigger margin for error. Right now there is considerable pressure to play a tough schedule because there are only two spots in the title game and you have to do something special to get in. So if anything, a playoff would discourage teams from scheduling "big games" against non-conference opponents.
Did you see me list any MTSU games above? It's annoying that you get this petty and argumentative when you're embarrassed about being wrong. It's just like magnus. What I said was that MTSU is not a cupcake, but with your limited knowledge of college football you probably would not realize that.
Sure, but they had Sanders back and healthy by the start of the playoffs, and I don't recall anyone considering them a Super Bowl favorite then.
I actually prefer to limit the human component, as the Harris poll has shown just what idiots some of these people are. The computers do a good job of analyzing actual team strength, and they don't factor in things such as South Florida's lack of tradition versus Ohio State's overwhelming history. The computers look at USF's victories at Auburn and over West Virginia and see them as more deserving than Ohio State. I agree. And yes, I have no doubt that even pollsters could put together more deserving title game championships in any sport than we've seen from the actual playoffs.
Playoffs don't automatically mean that the best team won't win. The best team should still have the highest chance of winning, but the more teams you introduce into the field and the more games you include, the less that chance is going to be. That just stands to reason. If you have two teams, they're both going to have pretty substantial odds of winning. If you have sixteen, the odds for any individual team go down enormously. So in that case, if Team A is judged to be the best team during the regular season, they would probably have a 10-15% chance of winning a 16 team tournament.

Ahh, but the strawberries that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if they hadn't of pulled the Caine out of action. I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officers...
