If Dayton was #1 I'd expect you to be this excited.

I think that whoever wins the national championship this year will be a compromised champion. Nobody will be able to make a valid argument without ifs and buts. This season will further increase the clamor for a playoff system. It can and eventually will work, to argue othewise is pure bull. The college presidents and AD's will agree to a playoff when they realize how much money it could make. As for the putrid arugment that a playoff would render the regular season meaningless, that's just people drinking the Kool-Aid.

Which would be true for any playoff system as well, but people always dwell on existing flaws and ignore future ones because they are short-sighted and ignorant.
    Because people are sheep.
Easy to say, but you won't argue it in detail because you already know that you'd get your ass kicked.
This "argument" is the roughly analogous to saying that god doesn't exist because you have a swollen ass face. Either step up to the plate and actually argue the issue reasonably or just keep your mouth shut.

I certainly do not have the time to follow it as closely as I once did, but I don't think that most of those games fall into the category of traditional powers OSU? KSU? South Florida? I know that some of them are having very nice seasons, but I think that your inclusion of a team that did not exist 15 years ago as an example of a good intra-sectional rivalry is kinda proving my point.

Also, you will notice that most of those games don't have many repeat names.

I would bet that the percentage of non-conference top 25 matchups in b-ball vastly outweighs the percentage of like football games.

Check out the schedules of the preseason top 10. There are generally 2-3 cupcake games on each one. USC is a notable exception. Please note that the rankings are the current rankings, not preseason.

USC - (Idaho, at #14 Nebraska, Wash St, at Washington, Stanford, Arizona, at N Dame, at #10 Oregon, Oregon St, at #12 California, at #8 Arizona St, UCLA)
LSU - (at Miss St, #9 Va Tech, M Tenn St, #12 S Carolina, at Tulane, #9 Florida, at #17 Kentucky, #17 Auburn, at Alabama, La Tech, at Ole Miss, Arkansas)
WVU - (W Michigan, at Marshall, at Maryland, E Carolina, at #18 S Florida, at Syracuse, Miss St, at Rutgers, Louisville, at #23 Cincy, UConn, Pittsburgh)
Texas - (Arkansas St, #19 TCU, at C Florida, Rice, Kansas St, #10 Oklahoma, at Iowa St, at Baylor, Nebraska, at Oklahoma St, #24 Texas Tech, at Texas A&M)
Michigan - (App St, Oregon, N Dame, #10 Penn State, at N'western, E Michigan, Purdue, at Illinois, Minnesota, at Mich St, at Wisconsin, #1 Ohio St)
Florida - (W Kentucky, Troy, #22 Tennessee, at Ole Miss, Auburn, at #1 LSU, at #7 Kentucky, at #20 Georgia, Vanderbilt, at #6 S Carolina, FAU, Florida St)
Wisconsin - (Wash St, at UNLV, The Citadel, Iowa, Mich St, at Illinois, at Penn State, N Illinois, Indiana, at #1 Ohio St, #25 Michigan, at Minnesota)
Oklahoma - (N Texas, Miami, Utah St, at Tulsa, at Colorado, at #19 Texas, #11 Missouri, at Iowa St, Texas A&M, Baylor, at #24 Texas Tech, Oklahoma St)
VT - (E Carolina, at #2 LSU, Ohio, W & Mary, UNC, at #22 Clemson, at Duke, #3 BC, at Ga Tech, Florida St, Miami, at #19 Virginia)
Louisville - (Murray St, M Tenn St, at Kentucky, Syracuse, at NC State, Utah, at #15 Cincy, at UConn, Pittsburgh, at #9 W Virginia, at #2 S Florida, Rutgers)

How is it any different than the NFL playoffs? And if you think that it is such a great system, why don't other sports follow its model?
