Ever since Mark Richt left they haven't had a QB guru and an OC to run the offense. Richt was a great offensive coach and he left right before Rix's first season at QB I believe. He left right after the 2000 season when they lost to Oklahoma in the title game. They have never been the same in terms of QB play and tutelage. I think the defense at FSU has always been good but their offense is an eyesore. I do think the ACC has gotten at least a little better to. They didn't have much competition in the 90's.

Fla State has been a pretty sad bunch on offense since Chris Weinke graduated. It's amazing they can't get a good QB or a stud RB in Tallahassee.
They still have some athletes on defense but they just don't have the playmakers they used to have on offense. As for Bowden, it looks to be time for him to bow out and start fishing.

yes. i wanted bobby gone six years ago as a preemptive strike.

i mean, how many times do you need to see him blow his nose on the sidelines?

the talent just isn't there and trickett/fisher know it. horrible.

    ugh...

    hanky

Yes, there was a good shot of him with the big white hanky last night blowing it out. noticed that.

I don't know. I hate to see these icons of sports hang around too long beyond their best years. It's like they can't give it up. Will it be a longevity thing now between Papa Bowden and Joe Pa to see who can outlast the other?

obviously. They said the total win record gap between him and joepa isn't that large. If bowden retires, joepa gets the record the next year.

I like Bowden but with the loss today to Miami, he should bow out at the end of the season. Florida State is a shadow of what it was and it's beyond belief that Florida State would be short on talent when they are located in the middle of one of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country.

Except that they are. Anquan Boldin, Javon Walker, and Laveranues Coles are the only solid offensive players FSU has put into the league for the last decade. That said, it's funny to see LarryD coming up with new excuses after insisting that Jeff Bowden was the problem. If the Seminoles do get rid of Bowden, they run a serious risk of being perpetually below the other Florida programs, including USF. In this era, you just can't dominate the way that Bowden did during the '90s. No one in college football is doing it, not even USC.

#1 -- you're wrong. when bowden subverted state nepotism laws to make his son the offensive coordinator, i said it was a bad move. i've been banging the 'please retire' drum for years. bobby may have built this program, but he's clearly sticking around for personal reasons and nobody in the administration can/will do anything about it. this is why the athletic director's contract was not renewed -- he was told that it was on his shoulders to 'fix' the football program and he knew that meant figuring out a way to get bobby bowden out. he said he wouldn't do it and they've got to bring in a new ax man. like i've said before...was jeff bowden a problem? hell yes, he was. he should have never been offensive coordinator. was he the only problem? hell no, he wasn't. quit picking and choosing what you want to read.

#2 -- fsu is already behind florida, miami is on the rebound and south florida is emerging as a power. wake up -- fsu is already at the bottom. i knew this was coming and this is why i wanted bowden gone six years ago.
