From Sorenson's "In My Opinion" and yes I know folks' opinion on the newspaper folks. I'm just posting it as food for thought - if it has some truth to it, maybe there's more to the defensive "yuckiness" then poor execution.

Also, there are some unhappy defensive players who don't like the way they're being deployed. Another performance as embarrassing as Sunday's and maybe they'll publicly say so.

Could Peppers be unhappy/confused with dropping back into coverage, thus affecting his general attitude?

Obviously, I think we all agree that that situation was handled poorly, but there is nothing we can do about it now. So we have to adjust what we can, and putting players that look like they want to be out there out there is all I am asking. Shake some things up, they just look stale out there.

I know, we are at the 'man the fuck up' stage when it comes to safety.:beatdeadhorse5:

Thanks for explaining your opinion better, if you thinking benchings are necessary I agree- put the best 11 out there. I just don't believe you can flip a switch to make the team have more heart-which in turns makes them play perfect- which is what most of the complaints have sounded like.

I guess the question is, what do we do now? It seems like something isnt right, do we bench some folks? cut some folks? fire someone?

You missed the point. The players he mentioned were pro bowlers, and the way his post was designed made it seem like it didnt matter of someone was "passionate" or not. But obviously it does. However, I wouldnt be locking Peppers up for a PB spot this year. But I dont want to digress with that.

And no, its NOT time for someone to make an argument as to why "passion" will help us execute better. No one said that. Its time for those who keep using that word and making some stupid buzzword to take away from the real problem that the team LACKS it to shut the fuck up about others wanting to see more of it.

Is execution a problem? Sure. Its the biggest problem. Is passion a problem? Or whatever you want to call it? Heart? Love for the game? Whatever? Its smeared all over the news, and players are talking about it. So yeah, that is too. And defensively? It helps. Does it help execution? On the lines, yes. On tackles, yes. I know you scoff at the notion that players should care, and the very notion of that may upset you greatly, I dont know why---perhaps it gets in the way of your "everything is fine and always will be, even when the ship has sunk" philosophy---but passion is a vital part of the game of football.

The pro bowl is mostly a popularity contest- and not everyone who goes is from a winning team so I don't see what bearing that has. I designed my post to show that flagrant examples of passion didn't help those players or their teams win their games last week.

We have a lot of room between where we are now and perfect. Somewhere in the middle would be palatable.
