Hope Solo rips US Soccer coach Greg Ryan

Solo was right so say what she said. Solarte, Scurry's been around longer then Solo (she was on the 1996 Olympic Team, remember) but Solo had allowed ZERO goals throughout the whole WC. Just because Scurry had a better record against Brazil then Solo did through her short career with the USWNT doesn't mean you pull the GK in the semi's...that's just stupid. How did he think Solo was going to react to being pulled? Now who's going in goal for the third place match against Norway? Scurry or Solo? This does make for an interesting trip home from China....

 

Totally agree on the call. Boxx was IN FRONT of the player that fell down.

Brazil beats the US in that game, with or without Solo in net.

What if TO said this about the Cowboys or A-Rod for the Yankees? You boys would be calling for his head pointing out what a prima donna he is and he's bad for the sport.

 

The US team got bitchslapped. The coach deserves some criticism, Hope shouldn't be bitching, but mostly Brazil was faster and harder working- they chased down a lot of balls the while the US just watched.

 

I was gonna use Keyshawn. But I've think I’ve slowly come to a point where I'm gonna somewhat side with a player unless he/she gets really stupid. There has to be some stuff in football where I sided with some loudmouthed jackass who was critical of management for one reason or another.

My real beef is that this criticism thing is pretty much a one-way street. So, she took some whacks. Check my comments on refreshing. But, rather than suck it up and go out and play every Sunday like the Cowboys and TO do with that kind of drama – because TO will help you win – they send her home.

If a coach sat TO for the super bowl or A Rod for the world series, after they had been absolutely steamrolling it, then I'm thinking that you would see a bunch more people siding with the player.

Not that those positions are really comparable to a goalkeeper in soccer though.

Pretty much. I'm not saying they would have won, but the goalie switch had a DIRECT impact on the first goal. The first goal in turn being an own goal and very early in the match, and being a direct result of the goalie switch, it all had to have been very demoralizing to the US side.

Soccer's funny like that, a fluke goal often leads to a spate of scoring. Again, I'm not saying the US would have won, but it definitely would have been a different game.

Solo came out looking a little like a whiny bitch though. Ugly result for US Womens' Soccer overall.

 

Ultimately it comes down to whether or not the criticisms were accurate, and in this case they were. Solo let her emotions get out of hand, which caused her to criticize Scurry, but everything she said was true. Kicking her off the team for that was just dumb, and I too hope that they get destroyed by Norway.
