The cardinals are not playing better baseball. The cubs and Brewers both took a huge slide at the same time, allowing the cards to get back into it. Ever since they caught up they have really done nothing. Now 3 games back and getting hammered by Cincy, they are going to be 4 back when the night is over. Ankiel has made two HUGE errors in left, one allowing two runs to score with 2 outs.

Nobody from the NL Central should be allowed to make the post season.

I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I am in favor of a rules change barring anyone under 85 wins from participating in the post-season. Any such division winner would be replaced by the wildcard runner-up.

For all of you saying that no team should get into the post season with less than 85 wins, remember that our defending world champion finished last years regular season 83-78. I think that a team with that record getting into the playoffs and then winning the world series is great for not only baseball, but all of sports.

Your argument is misguided. If a team get's into the playoffs just 5 games over 500 based on a 162 game regular season, then what does that say about the regular season? 162 games and you are 5 games over? Please, anything can and will happen in the post season. I am in favor of the widlcard but there were better teams in the NL with better records than St Louis last year. Whomever wins the central will be a dud leaving better clubs at home. Can the divisions and just take the top four records in each league.

Are you kidding? It's an embarrassment. People made fun of baseball for months because its "champion" was so pathetic. That's not a great story, it's humiliating. The regular season should actually mean something, and I actually wouldn't mind if we went back to the days before wild card or even division series. The playoffs are too much of a crapshoot, with the best team rarely winning the whole thing.

The first place Brewers lose to the Pirates. Brewers a staggering 3 games over .500.
