I was at the game and you're pretty much full of crap. The place really didn't start emptying out until Carr through that awful INT, and that was at the beginning of the 4th.

I was actually surprised how many people were at the game.

Why is it that people who are at games always think their opinion is more valid? I was not at the game, however I had the luxury of seeing blimp shots in HD not to mention tivo. Did you?

Probably because it is. I saw the same TV coverage as you and it didn't look as bad as you want to claim especially for a preseason game. You seem to forget that a lot of fans go to see stars in action. Those stars are our normal starters who had called it a night by mid 3rd quarter, some quite a bit earlier.

First and foremost let me point out that I never challanged anyone to an NFL attendance debate and I am unclear what the Patriots have to do with what I originally stated or why you are bringing them up. Probably jealousy.

I simply pointed out that there were an extraordinary amount of empty seats in the 3rd quarted Friday night, even for a pre-season game. That's all. Clearly a nerve was struck.

That being said, there are just a few problems with the above quoted....

In 1990 the Patriots played in Foxboro stadium which only held 55,000 with no PSL's. The league was no where near the juggernaut it is in the 2000's and back then 40,000 meant 40,000 asses in seats. They also had to compete with 3 other thriving pro sports franchises in town for entertainment dollars. Can't really say that in Charlotte.

The Panthers may have averaged 70,000 tickets sold in 2001 but the large majority of those were PSL's. There is NO WAY there were 70,000 fans at those games. There may have been 45,000-50,000 tops and for a new franchise playing in an era of NFL dominace, that is pathetic.

And before you call another franchise an embarrassment let me point out that in the few years the Panthers have been around we have been graced with the Kerry Collins racial bomb, murdering Ray and dead Fred. Now who's franchise do you think has been a bigger source of embarrassment to the NFL?

I can't to your satisfaction because you won't accept anything I post. The people at the game saw everything first hand. They dealt with the crowds coming and going, during restroom and concession runs. You base your interpretation on a few quick shots of the stadium at various times throughout the night. I guess your view is that the NFL is wasting money tracking attendance figures when all that is needed are a few pictures from a blimp. That's stupid.

So the patriots aren't included in "other towns" or "any stadium."
