I don't know that I'd put Army on that list.

Army dominated for a long period, but it's been a longer period since they've dominated.

I'd put Georgia Tech, LSU, Penn State and Pittsburgh ahead of them on any list. They've all won at least as many national championships as Army and all have more all time wins. They're also at least half decent in most years.

I think if you're going to include Army, then you have to include Yale, Harvard and Princeton. I'd throw in Minnesota to the list too.

If its historical Army and Navy absolutely must be on there. Army won 3 national championships: one in 1914 under Coach Daly (58-13 @ army), and two in the forties and two under Red Blaik, who went 121-22-10, and came up with some original offensive formations that defined Army football.

They had back to back Heisman winners in 45 & 46 - Mr. Inside & Mr Outside Felix "Doc" Blanchard and Glenn "Junior" Davis on the back to back NC teams that went 27-0-1.

Pete Dawkins won the award in '58, and Army went undefeated (8-0-1)m also under Blaik.

I'd include TN ahead of Georgia & LSU, though I think all of those schools are 2nd tier. TN hasn't won enough NCs and hasnt had a hesiman winner since Majors (though Manning got absoloutely cheated out of the award by negative media).

All time, yeah, Army is top 10. I won't include Navy, wasn't quite as dominate overall, or as long. Despite losing routinely for the past 30 years, Army's winning percentage is still just under .600.

    In no particular order

Oklahoma - 37 conference titles, 7 NC, .711 winning percentage

Alabama - 25 conference titles, 11 NC, .710 winning percentage

So Cal - 36 conference titles, 9 NC, .697 winning percentage

    Penn State - 4 NC/ .685

Ohio State - 32 conference titles, 5 NC, .709 winning percentage

Michigan 42 conference titles, 10 NC, .745 winning percentage

Notre Dame 13 NC, .743 winning percentage

Nebraska 46 conference titles, 5 NC, .707 winning percentage

Texas 42 conference titles, 30 conference titles, 4 NC, .710 winning percentage

Army 3 NC, .596 winning percentage, but again, they were a powerhouse for an extended period of time.

Tennessee has a high winning percentage (.699), second to only boma, and is second only to boma in and conference championships. But only 2 NC, so you really can't put them in this category.

I can't really think of another team that can really be in this category.
Pitt did it's damage in the 1910s, mostly. Miami and FSU if either could get back on an extended winning track for 10 years or so and win a couple of NC.

Army has finished the season ranked in the AP top 25 once in the last 50 years. That was 1996 and they finished 24th. I'm not saying that they weren't one of the dominant teams of an era, but that era is long gone and if you're going to rank the teams based on what they've done all time, I don't think they belong.
