    where else would you see a lead like this (by George King in this morning's Post, after the angels beat the Yankees 18-9)?



    August 22, 2007 -- ANAHEIM - The stench coming off Mike Mussina's stuff last night invaded your nose like low tide. And the rest of the Yankee hurlers reeked, too.

    New York is a tough town, when your good your great but when your bad you deserve to die. That's they way the media there works, your only as good as your last game.

    sure, but sportswriters are critical in other towns too. The Boston beat writers can be pretty ruthless. I was referring more to the wording in the guy's lead. great stuff, imho.

    It looks like Mussina may be at the end of a pretty darned good run in the majors. The guy was a real craftsman in his day but his day looks to be in the past tense. The difference between Boston and New York media and fans in my opinion is that Boston is more apt to give a guy a couple of bad games before they throw him to the wolves.
