    psst...

the hdmi feature is advertised on the box. sure, there'll be tons of older ones on shelves, but you can easily tell by looking at the side for the features.

XBOX 360 elite sells for $449 right now.

    PS3 sounds like a no-brainer for $499 plus BR.

Made the plunge, ill sacrifice on games right now but i mostly play sports games anyway and XBOX lacks some of the titles ill be seeking.

Formula One rocks on the PS3.

If you have an HDTV, then you might as well get the PS3 for Blu-ray. If you don't, I think the 360 has the better games library and certainly a better price point.

If you want an all in one box cause you only buy a few games, then get the PS3. If youre #1 focus is games, get the 360.

The "better" argument is for fanboys. It really depends on how youre gonna use it and if you owned a last gen model (so you presumably like the basic package)

I think it really all depends what you already have and what you're looking for. I already have a PS2 and PSP and a HDTV. So having a HDMI connection is a must. Only the 360 Elite has a HDMI connection, not the regular 360. All PS3's have HDMI. XBOX is HD DVD, PS3 is BR. Right now my blockbuster store only carries BR. So thats another plus for BR for me personally. PS3 is backwards compatible so i dont have to start my game collection over either.

But XBOX 360 does most certaintly have the largest game selection out there. And the whole XBOX live community is apparently very good, so ive been told (never played online) even if you have to pay for it.

Right now, XBOX appears to be getting the most out of their machine (see Madden 08 FPS) but id imagine in time PS3 game developers will be maximising the PS3 as they play catchup. (i hear FIFA08 will run at 60FPS like the XBox)

So, it kinda comes down to what kinda games you play, do you play online, do you buy lotsa games or just play the same one or two games over and over. Do you play games like Halo for the XBOX or Sports games that might be exclusive to PS like F1, Rugby08 and others. Both sell games for 60 bucks a pop right now so no price diference there.

So the Elite costs $449 right now with a 100 gig HD. PS3 60 gig costs $499 with a BR player. Elite doesnt come with HD DVD player either, that a $200 ad on, so im essentially paying %50 extra for a BR player. I can sacrifice on games right now till the developers catch up. Picked up Madden and F1, that will be more than enough for me until Fifa comes out in Oct.

If your looking strictly at gaming and are big on online play id say XBOX would be the way to go right now.

the 360 is backwards compatible with a huge library of games, not that I've ever seen anyone actually use it. That kinda bullshit is just for fanboys to brag about.

and HDMI connection is kinda pointless. Looks fucking great on the included component cables.

also the HD-DVD add on isnt $200. It's very easy to pick up for $150 or less.

Not that I'd want that shit anyway. Nor would I want to use a PS3 as a BR player. These machines are too loud and get too hot. Get a damn standalone when they're affordable and the movie libraries are huge.

I really dont give a rats ass which one anyone picks, but it's annoying to see all this misinformation.

ps3 games are shit compared to 360 versions of the same game. Yeah it has a bluray player, but who cares if you're buying a console to play games. The game are better and far more numerous on the 360.

A few ps3 titles are 30fps as opposed to 60fps on their 360 counterparts, but that won't be the case for long. Eventually the PS3 will look better than the 360 because it is a superior piece of technology with more processing power and better architecture, but it's supposedly harder to develop for and thus it may take some time for companies to maximize its potential.

that's a best case scenario. The xbox was a better technological machine over the ps2 last generation, but since it was late to the party, it got the majority of ps2 ports. Companies are already used to the 360, and it has more users. It's much easier and cost effective with high next gen development costs to develop for the 360 and dump a port over to the ps3, like every company did for the xbox.

There's been scores of ps3 games delayed due to development issues, and even GTA 4 got pushed back because they are developing it for both consoles simultaneously.
