So I take Ambien CR to go to bed each night. I lay there for 20 minutes and get up and take a Klonopin.

I've been doing this for about 10 months now.

    Is this bad?

I'm not a pro, but after looking at the "patient information" for both of those, I'd say it's damn risky, at the very least in terms of dependence.

Have you looked into possible underlying causes of your difficulty sleeping? Anxiety & sleeplessness probably affect everyone from time to time, but it shouldn't be a constant, life-long thing. There are lots of behavioral things we can learn & do to relax & rest better. There are also some much safer, natural alternatives to prescription drugs out there--melatonin supplements & valerian root come to mind.

    Hot shower

Two things knock me out at night. If I exercise hard during the day and if I take a shower right before I go to sleep. Sometimes, I snack on foods with that chemical in them Trysomething or other. I have a miserable time trying to sleep as well, but I am chickenshit when it comes to trying anything to sleep. I am too afraid of becoming addicted. What about getting your groove on right before sleep does that help? If my wife starts talking right after sex, it is amazing how quickly I can drift off into a wonderful sleep. Have you tried that?
